In Between
We are living in a world that is becoming increasingly uncertain for many of us
More defined, more polarised, more inclined to separate, label, and simplify. And yet, there are many people whose experience doesn’t sit neatly within any one category.
There are those who live between identities.Between cultures, between perspectives.Often able to see more than one side ,but not always fully seen themselves.
In a world that tends to ask for clarity and definition, living in between can feel like:
Being overlooked
Being misunderstood
Being asked to choose parts of yourself
Being in painful cycles of shame and self loathing
But the perspective of those with mixed identities matter so much, not just personally but collectively.
Because the ability to hold complexity, to see multiple truths, and to move between ways of thinking is not a weakness. It is a gift and at Clever Humans we believe it is something the world increasingly needs.
At Clever Humans, this way of experiencing the world is recognised, valued, and given space.
Not as something to resolve or reduce, but as something to understand, integrate, and work with.
The experience
Living in between can show up in many ways.
It might be:
Mixed race identity
Navigating more than one culture or set of expectations
Adapting who you are depending on where you are
Feeling like you belong in multiple places, and nowhere at the same time
Being understood in parts, but not as a whole
It’s not always something easy to explain. And often, it hasn’t been fully understood.
What it can feel like
Sometimes it brings depth, awareness, and perspective.Sometimes it can feel like:
Confusion
Disconnection
Pressure to define yourself
Being misunderstood or unseen
Carrying experiences that don’t quite fit anywhere
You might have learned to adapt, to threat seek, to change or hide parts of yourself.
To read the room.
To shift.
To hold more than one version of yourself at once.
And over time, this can take its toll.
A space to make sense of it
At Clever Humans, this isn’t something that needs to be simplified.
There is space here to:
Explore identity without reducing it
Understand your experience in your own terms
Connect different parts of yourself
Process what has been carried, consciously or unconsciously
This can happen through counselling, EMDR, or reflective work, depending on what you need.
The work
This is not about choosing one side of yourself. It’s not about fixing anything.
It’s about going back tot he root of the full power of you as a Clever Human
Integration
Understanding
Allowing complexity to exist without pressure
And, over time, developing a sense of:
Clarity
Groundedness
Wholeness
Validation
You don’t need to define yourself perfectly ,You don’t need the right language. You don’t need to explain it in a way that makes sense to others.
You just need a space where all of you can exist and at Clever Humans we provide that space.
